It’s been a little more than fifteen years since I had the pleasure of playing with my good friend Hassan Hakmoun. We worked together in a group called Zahar during the mid-nineties. It was a pretty amazing time! We toured in Europe, the USA, and the middle east during those years. We also Had the great honour of being included in Peter Gabriel’s Womad shows as well as opening up for him on several of his “Secret World” tour dates. It was a very special time in my life. Hassan called me a couple of weeks ago to ask me to play with him in Toronto at the Harbourfront Center on July 4th. It turns out that I had initially planned to visit my mom for here 88th birthday celebrations on that weekend. I’m still going to go to Montreal for that party, but I also hurry back to Toronto to play the gig with Hassan! It’s going to be great get into that vibe again!
